This Malaysian based lottery of an airline is run on an oily rag. Don’t fly it unless you have a death wish.

There were complaints of poorly trained hostesses who were more frightened than the passengers when an engine was lost out of Perth (probably again due to poor maintenance).

That's understandable because those hostesses are paid $9 an hour flown and pilots are paid a mere pittance.

No cheap ticket is worth your life.

I wouldn’t fly Qantas for the sole reason that they have been pushing the same sex marriage issue…..on the back of boarding passes? Give me a break. What Joyce doesn’t realize is that the idea is repulsive to a good part of the population.

This incident was no more than a depressurization, trained for in the simulator. The aircraft didn’t “plunge”, but descended rapidly under control of the flight crew to 10,000 feet where oxygen masks could be removed. I agree that the panic among the cabin crew wouldn’t inspire confidence, but the aircraft was never in danger.

I don’t think Joyce was ever in charge at Air Asia. He WAS in charge of subsidiaries, including Jetstar Asia, but I think that is no longer the case.

Air Niugini used to have some hairy moments in the days I used to fly from Mosesby to Honiara via Bougainville era 1970’s…………..or with Solair getting blown sideways taking off from places like Gizo, more like an Aircraft Carrier sized airfield….a small island with just room for a runway and FA else. Balalae with an old Betty bomber sitting beside the runway there. The short runway ran from one side of the island to the other……no mistakes allowed !! Another field south of Honiara that we aborted the landing when we found out the locals had not cut the grass……they… Read more »

I tend to agree with you Larry. They have a very bad recent track record. Lost a plane en route to Singapore not long ago. A few years ago I used them frequently between Bangkok and Macau. No reserved seating. Just like getting on a bus but it was cheap and more frequent services than the only other opposition Air Macau. I never had an incident but I was always relieved to get back on the ground. In thise days the airline was pretty new and so where the planes. Looks like maintenance has caught up with them. Incidentally $9.00… Read more »

Had to fly AA recently from Changi to Penang (the flight time was more suitable) and they were fine although the rest of my travel was with Singapore Airlines. Admit I was a little nervous but as I said fears unfounded – even got something to eat, apparently ordered by my sister, who far prefers Air Asia to Malaysian Airlines (she will never travel with Malaysian again after having flown with them numerous times)

Flown with them many times, and won’t be looking elsewhere unless there is no AA option.
Yes, there may be a very slight increased risk, but it’s still miniscule, and compared to the rude, woeful service from Jetstar, which is usually my alternative, I’ll take my chances with polite, helpful staff and lovely hostesses who may scream in an emergency – does anyone think Jetstar’s (or Qantas’, or….) could do anything useful in an emergency anyway..

Euthanasia takes you straight to Heaven without a fiery pit stop as you crash into some secret triangle in the middle of an ocean. It’s also cheaper.

Having spent most of my 46 year working life in mining, a place where safety is not the most important thing – it’s the ONLY thing, I can say with absolute certainty that where ever cost becomes the major consideration, safety is the first casualty.

Given their safety record and the quality of the aircrew .. why do we let them land in Australia? I have warned all my acquaintances off anything to do with them. Life is too short to save a couple of dollars and forfeit your life.
